Star Strek Insignia Nail Art Tutorial

As soon as I got my polishes from a recent Zoya order I knew I would do this Star Trek Insignia Nail Art tutorial when I say my bottle of Zoya America. I have been on a Star Trek kick lately, since I have been watching the series Deep Space Nine on Netflix. I love Star Trek. My dad is a big fan, and I grew up watching the original series in re-runs and then The Next Generation (In my opinion the best series from the franchise) when it originally came out.

This was easy-ish to do. I am by no means even at an intermediate level, but even I managed to make this happen. I used Zoya America for the red, and if you wanted to have something that resembles the blue colored uniform you could use Zoya Breezi for a base instead. I have no idea what color to use for the gold uniforms. They almost look like they have a touch of green in them.

On to the tutorial! You will need:

  • Base Coat
  • Red (I used Zoya America), Blue, or Gold nail polish for the uniform color to use as a base
  • Shimmery Gold nail polish (I used Zoya Goldie) for outlining the insignia
  • White nail polish (I used Sally Hansen White On) for the center of the insignia
  • Top Coat
  • Fine tip nail art brush

Step 1

Apply base coat, then apply your base color.

Step 2

Using the white nail polish and fine point nail art brush, start a triangle. On the bottom close it with a curved line, making the left side with a thicker point than the right side.

Step 3

Using your gold polish and the fine tip nail art brush, outline the white shape with gold. This is where I ran into issues, as I messed up the white a bit. Use some white polish to clean up the inner portion if necessary (which I had to do).

Step 4

Finish up by putting the wings (best way I can think to describe them) on the side of your shape. It is simply two straight parallel lines sticking out, with a straight line to close it. Wait about 10 to 15 minutes for your design to dry enough, and then you can apply your top coat without smudging your work.

And you’re done!

I only did an accent nail, but you could do all nails if you wanted. Another variation would be to do only the accent nail like I did, and then use a dotting tool to add rank to your index nail.

I hope you enjoyed this Star Strek Insignia Nail Art tutorial!
