The Walking Dead

Home

Rick! Rick you are losing your marbles guy. You need to get it together before your kids end up dead.

This episode has Rick’s group on edge, wondering how they will handle the inevitable attack by the Governor. Tensions are high, and remain that way as they struggle to redefine their group roles now that Rick has lost it, and Daryl has left the group. Rick, seeing ‘Lori,’ wanders off into the woods to be with her. Michonne witnesses him interacting with her ghost or whatever it is. I don’t think it is a ghost, so much as something Rick’s mind has created.

Back at Woodbury the Governor asks Andrea to lead the people, telling her he isn’t fit to lead them. I don’t think he is doing this for the benefit of the people so much as it is a move to test Andrea and see where her loyalties lie. He asks Milton to keep an eye on her, and Milton agrees. While Milton tells the Governor that he is on his side, I am not sure I agree that is true. Milton strikes me as a guy with his own agenda, and is a bit more under the radar about it. I could be wrong, but I expect him to do something soon that will take the Governor by surprise. For now he is doing what the Governor wants, and not telling Andrea his whereabouts.

When we catch up with Daryl and Merle, we see them wandering through the woods arguing. Daryl wants to go back to the prison, but Merle is against it. Not only does he (rightfully) believe he is not welcome, but he believes that the Governor is going to kill everyone there.

Back at the prison you can see Glenn is still seething with anger over his encounter with the Governor, and he wants to charge into Woodbury and kill him. Maggie is visibly against it, and later when they are alone she angrily/reluctantly tells Glenn what happened. Glenn I think realizes he has pushed Maggie too much about this trying to know exactly what happened, and agrees to stay in the prison and stand their ground versus charging into Woodbury.

In the woods Daryl and Merle find a family being overrun with walkers, and Daryl steps in to help despite Merle’s objections. I think hearing the baby cry really tugged at Daryl, and being the man he has become he could not turn away. After the family is safe, Merle begins rummaging through their vehicle, and pulls a gun on one of the men as he tries to stop him. Daryl aims his crossbow at Merle, making him get out of their vehicle. The family takes off, and Daryl and Merle get into a fight. Daryl tells Merle how he is the one who left him, and basically tells Merle that a lot of the crap that happened to him he brought on himself with his behavior and actions. Good for Daryl! Merle needs some truth. We also learn about the abuse that Darly and Merle suffered as kids.

It may be just me, but in this episode I felt we were being given hints about not only why Merle is such a bastard, but also a glimpse of something deep in him that doesn’t believe being good is something he is capable of. Like his father was a bastard so he is destined to be like his father. He knew why Rick’s group wouldn’t want him, and he almost seemed like being a jerk is all he knows. I don’t know. Daryl headed back to the prison, and Merle reluctantly followed him.

Back in the prison Carol and Axel are fortifying the prison, and Axel begins to flirt with Carol. It really looks like she is liking it this time, when before she shut him down. I thought it was a really cute moment between them. Hershel tries talking Rick into coming back into the prison, but Rick isn’t ready. He opens up to Hershel about seeing Lori and Shane, about hearing Lori on the phone. Hershel pleads with Rick to come back, and that Glenn is in over his head.

And then it happens …

As Carol and Axel are taking a bullet rips through his head, killing him instantly. :( Poor Axel, and poor Carol. She has the presence of mind to use his body as a shield, and I admit I am a bit bummed that we lost Axel. I was worried in the beginning when he hit on Beth, but I was wrong. While it was true he wasn’t in for drug related charges, he wasn’t a sexual predator. He actually looked kind of cute with Carol, and he was making himself a useful part of the group. Everyone takes cover, and shots are fired by both sides. Then the Governor has a vehicle smash through the gate and release walkers into the prison yard, and takes off leaving Rick’s group to deal with them.

Just as Rick is surrounded and it looks like he may be killed by a walker, Daryl comes in at the last second killing the walker and saving Rick. Merle and Daryl help kill the walkers near them, getting them safe for the moment. As the episode ends we see the group fragmented, each in their own area trapped by walkers.

So what will happen next? Will Merle be allowed into the group for now? What will be Rick’s next move against the Governor? Does Andrea suspect he lied and really did go back for revenge? Do you have any predictions for the next episode of The Walking Dead?

Rick “wandering in crazyland” or was it town? Anyway, they seriously need to stop bringing him back there!!!! Cliffhangers in the midst of major action really anger me! UGH! All I can think about is WHO HAS Little Asskicker? They’re all outside and walkers potentially could get inside. Is she napping? Does Carl have her? Looked to me like everyone was out there for the battle!!!!! Except for the newbies locked in their chamber…. helpful! -_-

It def sucks that Axel is down, but I still have my doubts about his creepy factor. Oh well, we will never know. I’m gonna need Rick to get himself together, remember his *2* kids that are part of the ghost he’s running after! GRRRR.

Oh and the Glenn and Maggie tension needs to stop!

At least this episode actually had zombies, but man I was freaking out and on the verge of tears because I don’t want any more losses. Why this show gets me, I don’t know! I guess the undead are the only thing that gets me all weepy. hahahaha

I can’t WAIT for the governor to get his. MAN OH MAN will that feel great. It better be really EPIC too….. just sayin’!!!
