Neutrogena Oil Free Eye Makeup Remover

I will admit I bought like 4 to 6 bottles of this only because it was on sale plus I had coupons. I got them for under $2 per bottle (can’t recall the exact amount anymore). I really wasn’t expecting much, and figured I would use it for removing anything that wasn’t waterproof or long wearing. To my surprise this is a really good makeup remover even for those types of hard to remove formulas.

While this is marketed as an eye makeup remover, and it is great for that, I actually use this to remove my entire face of makeup. Even though it is oil free, it is still a bit slippery and I can massage it on my face until my makeup is all broken down. Previously I used olive oil to massage my face and break down my makeup, but this is just as effective and easier to wash off than olive oil. Yes, this has replaced olive oil in my makeup removal routine.

Ingredient list for those interested:

Cyclopentasiloxane, Water, Cyclohexasiloxane, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Benzyl Alcohol, Sodium Chloride, Dipropylene Glycol, Poloxamer 182, Allantoin, Tripotassium EDTA, Benzalkonium Chloride, Glycerin, Cucumber (Cucumis Sativus) Fruit Extract, Potassium Phosphate, Dipotassium Phosphate.

While this is an oil free formula, it looks like it has oil in it. You have to shake it up before using it, and then you can massage it into your skin. For removing makeup along my waterline, I dip a clean Q-Tip into it and swipe it along my eyes to remove any makeup (and no double dipping). After that I use cotton rounds with eye makeup remover to wipe most of the makeup off of my eyes, and from there I put some into my hands to massage on my face. Once I feel the makeup is broken down I simply wash off the makeup and makeup remover. I do one extra wash after that to make sure my skin is completely clean.

Neutrogena Oil Free Eye Makeup Remover retails for $6.99 and is widely available at drugstores and mass retailers nationwide.

I finished a bottle of this last year and loved it. Sadly it seems to have disappeared from the counters here ever since.

Really? I have seen it in every store here that sells Neutrogena. :(

Now I kind of regret putting it back on the shelf when it was on clearance a few months ago because this can definitely replace my Bobbi Brown remover. So much cheaper too! Thanks for the review <3

I haven’t tried Bobbi Brown, but this works just as well as my Lancome Bi Facil

The Mary Kay Eye Makeup Remover has a similar look but it’s a little less oily. I’m not sure why I haven’t rebought the Neutrogena but for $2 each I sure would.

I am not familiar with Mary Kay stuff. I don’t mind the feel of this, as it is easy to massage and doesn’t tug my skin.

Wow, you got a huge bargain! I used it for a while and thought it was OK. I had trouble getting off waterproof mascara. I just didn’t love it, although I used several bottles of it for a couple of years. I switched this spring to Rimmel and like it better. I have never used it to remove face makeup. Interesting. I usually just use Purpose foaming cleanser for that. I took the Neutrogena wipes with me to Dallas on a business trip and I used one tonight. Liked it way more than I thought I would. Did a good job removing my eye makeup.

I’ve never had much luck with wipes, but I would love to try the Rimmel remover.

I love all Neutrogena products! This one irritates my eyes (I wear contacts) so I got the cleanser/makeup removed, and so far so good! :)

That’s too bad that it irritates your eyes. :( At least you found a product that works for you.
