The Buffs – Blushing Beige
I know, I am totally crazy for not buying up the whole line. This is my only lipstick from The Buffs, and clearly I should have purchased more. I guess I can start hunting them down again.
The Buffs are a line of purely neutral nudes, with the majority of them looking like they will truly shine when worn on women of color. I grabbed number 915 Blushing Beige, because from what I could see it would be just a touch above my skin tone. Despite how it looks in the tube, however, this applies lighter than expected. When worn alone it quite frankly gives me an undead, very unflattering look. I was thinking I would end up returning it, but then I thought it really is a pretty shade. I should try it over a liner and see if it would work that way. And voila! I am in love with how it looks over NYX Peekaboo Neutral lip liner. So yeah, it’s a keeper.
Now, I don’t consider the shade issue a con. Why? Because it’s all about formula and performance. A shade not suiting me honestly means nothing about the product itself to me. If it has a nice, creamy formula, doesn’t bleed, lasts a good amount of time, and doesn’t dry my lips than it IS a good product. I just need to find it in a shade that suits me personally. This lipstick feels really nice on the lips (didn’t notice any taste or fragrance), and lasts me until I start eating. I wore it up to 4 hours without needing a touch up, and I am someone who presses their lips together when I have product on it even though I shouldn’t. For it to last 4 hours through that impresses me.
I would absolutely buy this again, and look forward to getting the rest of the shades (minus the very lightest, which looks near white) if I can. This lipstick is a win from Maybelline, and I hope they consider making these shades permanent.
Maybelline The Buffs Blushing Beige retails for $8.99 and can be purchased at drugstores nationwide.
