Covergirl Stay Fabulous Foundation
I started hearing a lot of buzz about this foundation, and since I tend to like wearing long wearing foundations I decided to give this a try despite not having a lot of luck with Covergirl foundations. Sadly, this was another miss for me.
The Stay Fabulous Foundation range claims to be a 3 in 1 product, giving you the benefits of a primer and concealer on top of being a foundation. This range carries 14 shades, which mostly tend to cover the light to medium of the spectrum.
I’d like to go over its claims one by one, starting with the primer. Now, it doesn’t claim to smooth your skin like a primer. Just to make it last long like it would if you had used a primer. This, I felt was true. It stood strong, and even lasted all day on my nose which tends to break down foundations by the end of the day. However, it did not smooth on like a primer. It definitely grabbed onto any dry places and exaggerated them. It did nothing to improve the look of pores, fine lines, etc.
As far as replacing a concealer, maybe. It depends on what you want to conceal. I found that tapping it on with my finger over spots did conceal them, though the formula of this made it obvious I was trying to conceal something (the more you build it up the worse it looks). It didn’t work to completely cover my dark circles either. If you don’t require any major concealing, then you may very well get by without it.
As a foundation, this was not love. Yes it lasted all day, but my experience was similar to Estee Lauder Doublewear. I could feel it on my face. Not just the product sitting on my skin, but if you touched my face you would be able to tell the foundation from areas without it. I also found it to be drying, and my skin almost felt like it was tight by the end of the day. This also oxidizes. I chose the shade soft honey, because in the bottle it looked like a match. However, on my skin it turned a bit orange. It was so noticeable that I did not wear this out, and instead tested it at home. I would recommend doing what I did, and save your receipt. Even if you like the performance, the shade may not be correct right out of the jar. There were unfortunately no testers for me to help choose my shade.
Overall, just not a fan. I think Covergirl is onto something with this foundation though. If they could make it more comfortable to wear and fix the oxidation issue, then I would give this another go.
Covergirl Outlast Stay Fabulous Foundation retails for around $9.99 and can be bought at just about every drugstore or mass retailer (I purchased mine at Rite Aid).

Thanks so much for swatches! Been looking for them for a while :)
You’re welcome :)
I hated this foundation for the SAME reasons and really thought I was the only one who had this experience. I’m sorry it didn’t work for you but I’m sort of glad to know that I’m not the only one who didn’t get on with it, haha. Like the idiot I am I didn’t save my receipt so now I’m stuck with it… Joy! I might try it again down the road as my skin is still changing but… Eh, we’ll see.

I don’t think my skin will ever change to orange lol. Did it oxidize on you? I might be able to tolerate the other issues, but not the oxidizing.
This foundation worked well for me. I think it’s very similar to EL DW and I think that’s why I like it. I totally agree about the concealing maybe part. I still used an undereye concealer with it.

I also forgot to add! It stinks that it didn’t work well for you. That is what is so interesting about makeup…for some it’s awesome, for others it’s awful.
Yep. Especially when it comes to foundations.
